  • 1.0 out of 5 stars from Hannah D. -- Makes you fat. BEWARE! : Do not buy this book. It’s a scam. Big promises made, and you will definitely gain weight. All she’s done is compile the research done by Ray Peat with some information from various medical journals and The Weston A Price Foundation. She cherry picked studies and didn’t give opposing views. I did this diet for three months. I will attach a picture as proof of what this diet did to me. The pic on the left is 3 months of Jillian Michaels videos and eating pretty much what I want in moderation. The right photo is 3 months on Kate Deerings diet. I started Kate Deerings diet about a week after that first photo was taken. So this is an accurate cause and effect illustration of what can happen. Maybe it works for people who are sick or have disorders. I was healthy. Kate Deering’s book convinced me I had a thyroid problem and that I needed to stop exercising so much. I went from 5-6 days a week of working out to 2-3 days/30-45 minutes at a time. So I never stopped working out, but simply followed all the instructions in this book. What a RIP OFF!!!! I’d picked up articles by Dr Ray Peat and found them a little too technical for me as I started out trying to understand what seemed like the total reverse of everything I’d learnt up to now. This book sums it all up perfectly, easy to understand, clears sections on all aspects of “metabolic eating” and it has become by go to guide. My hands haven’t been cold for a while now, it’s a slow recovery but the foods I am now eating I’m really enjoying. Highly recommended. Three years ago I experienced a complete metabolic crash and almost by instinct felt that the vegetarian health foods I'd been eating along with a crazy work life were the chief contributors. Mending myself has taken some time but understanding how important a good metabolic rate is and the way diet contributes to it has been instrumental to my return to good health.
